This Math Teachers' Circle
Seminar-Workshop with the theme, "Achieving Desired Learning Competencies of
Students in Mathematics" is this year's package of the Mathematics Trainers' Guild, Philippines
to math teachers in the country in its effort to contribute to the thrust of
the Department of Education in uplifting the quality of instructions in every
math class. This seminar- workshop is designed to equip math teachers with
useful insights on mathematical contents and concepts with the introduction of
current best teaching practices. The objectives of this seminar-workshop are
to:
- Enhance teaching skills and competence to improve students'
performance output in mathematics;
- Familiarize teachers on the appropriate use of educational
technologies to enhance learning;
- Develop teachers' competence in teaching mathematics through the
introduction of effective strategies to fill in gaps in concepts and
skills; and
- Enrich teaching skills through research-based approach to
developing numeracy competence giving teachers more extensive mathematical
knowledge.
The
teacher participants will be in the best hands of the world's leading math
experts like Dr. Andy Liu, Professor of the Department of Mathematical
Sciences, University of Alberta Canada; Prof. Wen-Hsien Sun, Executive Director
of Chiu Chang Mathematics Education Foundation, Taipei, Taiwan; Ir. Ridwan
Hasan Saputra, President and Director of KPM Math Clinic, Indonesia; Prof. Huan
Peter Zheng and Prof. Yu Zou from China with our very own Filipino
mathematician, Dr. Simon Chua who will offer a different experience to improve
instructional system that increases student performance in mathematics.
