The International Kangaroo Math Competition (KMC) is an international school-based mathematics competition organized by the Association Kangourou Sans Frontieres (AKSF) a transnational educational group based in Paris.

The competition began to be called “Kangaroo” because of its Australian origin. Founded in early 1980, the KMC quickly spread throughout Europe is currently the world’s largest math competition with more than 6 million participants from 80 countries in 2017.

Most of the well known math experts from more than 70 countries around the world contributed the contest problems. They have their doctoral degrees from most prestigious universities of the world. A large number of universities worldwide is directly supporting this contest. Most valuable asset of this contest is that dozens of National Mathematical Societies, research institutions and several Math Trusts, including UK Math Trust, are very proud to support International Kangaroo Mathematics Competition.

This competition has won several international prestigious prizes including Paul Erdos Prize which was given to IKMC because of its extreme usefulness for enhancing the quality of education in schools. This makes IKMC a competition with the strongest academic values.

The Philippines through Mathematics Trainers’ Guild (MTG), Philippines and Philippine Board of Studies Foundation (PBOSF), Inc. had been officially accepted as member of the ASKF during the 2017 Annual ASKF Meeting held in Lucerne, Switzerland on October 11-15, 2017.

The MTG Philippine will officially open the registration of the International Kangaroo Mathematics Competition - Philippines (IMKCPH) on January 10, 2018 to the different public and private school students in the country.
