Aug 01, 2012

The country's best math wizards had proven anew their number prowess by reaping a whooping 41 medals and awards in the recently concluded 2012 Taiwan International Mathematics Competition (TAIMC) held on July 23-28, 2012, placing one Philippine team second in the overall standing in Key Stage II or elementary division.

This year’s competition brought in some 69 teams for Key Stage II and 78 teams for Key Stage III or 588 participants from 28 countries and territories. Among them were Australia, Bulgaria, Canada, China Cyprus, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, Mexico, Mongolia, Netherland, Nigeria, Philippines, Singapore, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, , Ukraine, USA, Vietnam and Zimbabwe

Winning 2nd place in the overall ranking in Key Stage II was Philippine team C composed of Farrel Eldrian Wu of MGC New Life Christian Academy in Taguig City, Clyde Wesley Ang of Chiang Kai Shek College, Matthew Uy of Xavier School and Christian Philip Gelera of UP Integrated School. Their team also won 1st runner-up in the team and group competitions.
