Five Filipino youth came home with silver and bronze medals after competing in the China Southeast Mathematics Olympiad held at JiangXi Province, last July 27 -31, 2016.
Matthew Angelo Isidro (St. Jude Catholic School) was awarded a Silver Medal while Vince Jan Torres (Sta. Rosa Science and Technology High School),   Sean Anderson Ty (Zamboanga Chong Hua High School), Elijamin Wolfgang Claveria (Philippine Science HS Main Campus), and Vicente Raphael Chan (Zamboanga Chong Hua High School) were awarded a bronze medal each during the awarding ceremony held at the JiangXi People Hall last August 1, 2016.
The contest was held on July 29 and July 30, wherein each day the contestants had to solve 4 problems within 3 hours, from 9am to 12 noon.
The other members of the Philippine team were Sedrick Scott (Xavier School), Terence Brian Tsai (Chiang Kai Shek College), Xavier Ray Jefferson Go (Zamboanga Chong Hua High School) and Steven John Wang (UNO High School)
Meanwhile, the team leader of the winning group was Mr. James Kevin Martin.
Participating countries included China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Macau, Mongolia, Malaysia, Philippines, Russia, Singapore, and Thailand.
