Forty-four grades one and two students in tandem with their parents won top places in the regional qualifying stage of the Family Math Quest (FMQ) held recently at selected MTG centers nationwide.
The pupil Naj Leurejoi Probadora and his parent Mrs. Theresa Probadora representing Samar Colleges, Incorporated obtained the highest combined scores in the grade 1 category. While there was a tie in the combined highest scores in the Grade 2 category between these 2 teams, MGC New Life Christian Academy represented by pupil Pierce Takai and parent Mr. Patrick Alan Takai and Tacloban Angelicum Learning Center represented by pupil Zian Andre Padillo and parent Mr. Rodolfo Padillo.
This year, 20 pairs for Grade 1 category and 21 pairs for Grade 2 Category from the total of 725 child-parent tandems have been declared national finalists who will come face to face for the national finals at 4th Floor SM North EDSA Annex, Quezon City at 1 o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, February 9, 2020.
All pupil and parent national finalists must make their confirmation of participation with this Subject Header; “Joining FMQ National Finals” at this email address rjd182001@yahoo.com on or before January 17, 2020.
The parent finalists are reminded of the following:
· pupil finalists must be in their school uniform; and
· both child and parent are advised to present their ID’s during registration which starts at 12 noon
FMQ is a math contest where a parent (a mother or father) and a child (Grade 1 or 2) paired up to solve mathematical problems as a team. Its objectives are to provide opportunities for parents and children to work together to achieve mathematical excellence; develop the family’s level math skills and knowledge; and promote the parent-child tandem a challenging, engaging mathematical experience that is both competitive and educational.
