Our Programs and Activities

The Mathematical Challenge for Filipino Kids Training Program (MCFKTP)

The MCFKTP is the first stage of the MTG intensive and comprehensive training program for mathematically gifted elementary and high school students. The program supplements and enriches the existing mathematics curriculum and programs in the country.

The MCFKTP has a total of 12 Saturday sessions that are usually conducted for 3 hours within the academic year. It challenges students with a variety of activities, including specialized topics in mathematics like Number Theory, Combinatorics, Non-Euclidean Geometry and Higher Algebra, Integration of Complex Numbers in other fields of Mathematics and the latest problem solving strategies. This program aims to initially prepare and expose them to international math competitions through correspondences. Furthermore, this stage develops their higher order thinking skills to be globally competitive as they foster national/international brotherhood.

Young Mathematicians’ In-House Intensive Training Program (YMIITP)

All the successful trainees of the MCFKTP are invited to attend the four to five days in-house intensive training program. After lectures have been provided, trainees are evaluated through assignments and a battery of quizzes and examinations. The top scorers are selected on the basis of their over-all remarkable performance which includes attitudes/behavior, while the alternates will be decided upon by the screening committee based on the results of the written outputs, presentation of solution and character traits. Both the top scorers and the alternates are potential representatives of the Philippine teams provided they will attend the next and last phase of the training program.

Mathematical Olympiad Summer Training Program (MOSTP)

The summer enhancement program is compulsory to all successful MTG YMIITP trainees who eventually will represent the Philippines in different international mathematics competitions. The training is usually scheduled for three to four weeks.

Within the weeks’ schedule, the contest committee will conduct about 10 to 12 sets of test to enable them to identify the performance of each participant and use her/his overall performance as a reference for the selection of team members who will be sent to the international competitions.
