From the many that signified to join the 2008 Thailand Invitational World Youth Mathematics International Competitions (TIWYMIC), the Mathematics Trainers’ Guild, Philippines trimmed them to twenty to compose the Philippine teams in Chiangmai, Thailand on October 25 to November 1, 2008.

The selection to join the 2008 TIWYMIC came after the result of the competitive examination given last June 14, 2008 at Arellano University, Legarda to MTG kids trained in DEECO Technological Institute. It should be noted that the TIWYMIC will be held simultaneously with the 2008 Thailand Elementary Mathematics International Competition (TEMIC). Thus, with the composition of the Philippine teams to the TIWYMIC, our country expects them to end up in the limelight of success by soaring above other participants from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, India, South Africa, USA to mention a few.

The math warriors from the Philippines who will bravely take the challenge of the TIWYMIC are:

13. Patrick Adrian Ong - St. Jude Catholic School
14. Geraldine Baniqued - St. Paul College, Pasig
15. Angeline Baniqued - St. Paul College, Pasig
16. Ervin Fredrick Dy - Chiang Kai Shek College
17. Alvin Uy Lim - Quezon City Science High School

Furthermore, the above participants should start showing their intention and confirmation of participation by e-mailing at philemic@yahoo.com within 3 days after the posting of this announcement. Failure to give an affirmation on or before June 17, 2008 means that the participant is backing out from the Philippine team, thus, MTG will give slot to other interested participants.

After confirming, we will send the details of the contest and the registration form in your respective email address.

Other international competitions such as the China Junior High School Math Olympiad and International Young Mathematicians Conference in India will be announced later.
