ELEM KIDS STAND OUT AS TOP SCORERS AND ALTERNATES IN 2009 YMIITP
Just as everyone was having a sigh of relief from school activities while others were preparing to beat the heat by going on summer vacations, more than 800 math kids from across the country ensnared by their passion for mathematics flocked at the Iloilo Grand Hotel at Iznart Street, Iloilo City last April 1 to participate the 2009 Young Mathematicians’ In-House Intensive Training Program for Elementary.
Prepared and determined, the young math trainees who were all top of their schools had been burning midnight oils in solving mind-boggling math problems, making them spent sleepless nights. The series of day’s sessions had been inundated with sheets of math problems, another problem and still another problem. The beginning trainees and tested MTG members alike were not spared by the tough math problems. Though tired and beaten, their strength of mind made them move on to the dominant purpose of the in-house training.
From the cream of the crop came the emergence of the good, better, best trainees. Though everyone had put their best foot forward, yet a few of them made it into the list of qualifiers and alternates. The rest of the young math kids with pursuing spirits promised to be back next year with a byword, “a winner never quits”. They are winners, indeed!
Meanwhile, parents and MTG trainees were delighted when Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano, the MTG Honorary Chairman and his wife Honorable Laarni Cayetano, Representative of Taguig-Pateros made a surprise visit during the closing program and awarding ceremonies. Thus, it was no less than Sen. Cayetano conferred the gold medals upon the top scorers and presented the certificates of merits to alternates.
And so, the following lists of top scorers and alternates including of those who attended the training with the high school group last March 29-April 1, 2009 are equally required to attend the 2009 Mathematical Olympiad Summer Training Program (MOSTP) at DEECO Technological Institute at Sta. The registration dates will be on April 13 and 14 while class starts on April 15 and ends on May 15, 2009. There will be no sessions on May 1 and 2, 2009. All 2009 MOSTP trainees are required to bring the following:
1. In-house ID;
2. In-house blue t-shirts; and
3. Saturday training red t-shirts.
