OFFICIAL PARTICIPANTS TO THE 13TH PO LEUNG KUK PRIMARY MATH CONTEST BARES

It is once again a period of international mathematics competitions and after a series of rigidly intensive and competitive trainings, the Mathematics Trainers’ Guild. Philippines has readied the official line-up to compose the 16 participants to represent the Philippines in the forthcoming  13th Po Leung Kuk Primary World Mathematics Competition to be held in Hong Kong on July 11-15, 2009.

These young Pinoy math warriors will engage in a stiff battle of the brains with the friendly competitors from USA, China, India, Malaysia, South Africa and Singapore to mention a few.

The members of the official list of participants as disclosed by the MTG, Philippines are as follow:

Furthermore, the above participants should start showing their intention and confirmation by e-mailing at rjd182001@yahoo.com within 5 days after the posting of this announcement. The Registration Form will be send to you once you made the confirmation. Failure to give an affirmation on or before June 10, 2009 means that the participant is backing out from the Philippine team, thus, MTG will give the slot to other interested participants.

However, we cannot guarantee whether the competition will push through as scheduled because we received an email from the 13th Po Leung Kuk organizers/committee stating that the continuous increase in the number of contaminated cases of human swine influenza A1/H1N1 worldwide, the World Health Organization has raised the level of influenza pandemic alert from phase 4 to phase 5. If the situation further deteriorates and schools are closed in Hong Kong, then the contest will either be cancelled or postponed.

Further information will be announced on June 15, 2009 regarding the final decision of the Po Leung Kuk Organizer. In case the contest will be postponed, the participants will be reassigned to other international competitions.

Other international mathematics competitions in China, Singapore, India, and Indonesia will be announced later. We advise all the qualifiers and alternates to keep themselves updated by always log on to the MTG website.
