The spirit of true a champion shined once again when three Filipino math warriors struck a blow for a pot of gold in the recently conducted17th Edition of the International Mathematics Contest “THE CLOCK-TOWER SCHOOL” held at “Take Ionescu” Elementary School in Rm.Valcea, Romania on March 20 - 23, 2014.
Gleaming absolutely golden under the sun were Joshua William King of Bethany Christian School-Cebu, Dion Stephan Ong of Ateneo De Manila University and Jinger Chong of St. Catholic School.
Three of the Filipino math wizards managed to hook silver medals. They were Eion Nikolai Chua of MGC New Life Christian Academy,Stefan Marcus Ong of St. Jude Catholic School and Gen Mark Tanno of Southville International School. Bringing home bronze medal wasTifanny Mae Ong of Immaculate Conception Academy while receiving the honorable mention award was Alyanna Zoie Chua of MGC New Life Christian Academy.
Dr. Simon Chua, MTG president spread the good news to all MTG family. He extended his congratulations to all members of the Philippine delegation especially the eight whiz kids for the excellent achievement.
The math contest drawing participants from Indonesia, Serbia, Moldova, Bulgaria, Romania and the Philippines was supported by the Ministry of Education, Research, Youth and Sport, the Romanian Mathematical Society, the Valcea County School Inspectorate and the Valcea Teacher Development Centre.
