Some of the country’s finest math wizards from Visayas and Mindanao buckled down to do serious work in the 2015 Young Mathematical In-House Intensive Training Program (YMIITP) held in Crown Regency Resort and Convention Center in Boracay, Aklan on March 23 – 26, 2015.

Undaunted by the challenge, the math aces as young as grades 1 and 2 (youngster group) and the older graders agreed to begin their summer holidays far from the hugs and kisses of their families. Though some were expressive of their separation anxiety yet constancy of purpose brought them to the finish line of the training, placing only a few at the top of the game. Nonetheless, all came in smart and went out smarter.

The trainees of the first batch dealt with mindboggling problems covering most if not all aspects in mathematics from equations, number theory, algebra, logical reasoning, combinatorics and geometry to mention a few.

This year, the YMIITP for Visayas and Mindanao yielded a total of 79 qualifiers and 150 alternates.

The first batch of qualifiers and alternates must submit the necessary documents/requirements and must confirm their participation in the month-long Mathematical Olympiad Summer Training Program (MOSTP) not later than Friday, April 10, 2015 with this subject header, Yes to 2015 MOSTP through this email address,

For Qualifiers: mtgp.mostp@yahoo.com

For Alternates: mtgp.alternate@yahoo.com

This year’s venue of MOSTP will be in Philippine Institute of Quezon City, 62 Kitanlad Street, Quezon City from April 20 to May 23, 2015.

The qualifiers are expected to do their best by attaining shining scores and by achieving a perfect attendance in all sessions of the training.

Furthermore, these are some reminders for the alternates:

They will be under the tutelage of the Mathematics Development Academy of the Philippines (MathDAP) whose trainers are all MTG elite, the once-upon-a-time champions and winners of the international math contests.
After confirming their intention to avail the MOSTP slots, the alternates will receive some requirements which must be accomplished in the soonest possible time. They must open their emails on a regular basis to check for updates and details. They must not assume that confirmation is the end of the process.
They must be serious in the training by attending the sessions regularly and must achieve remarkable or perfect scores
