KEH, CHAN ARE FERMAT’S TOP ACHIEVERS

Vicente Raphael Chan, grade 9 from Zamboanga Chong Hua High School and Sedrick Keh, grade 10 from Xavier School are Fermat’s outstanding achievers for scoring the highest in the 2016 Fermat Contest run by the Center for Education in Mathematics and Computing (CEMC).
Chan and Keh had an equal finish after obtaining an identical score that almost gave them a perfect mark.
Furthermore, each year the organizers invite some of the top achievers on the CEMC’s contest to attend the Lloyd Auckland Invitational Mathematics Workshop. For the first time the Philippines has been invited to attend the workshop which will be at the University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada on May 29 to June 4, 2016.
Since the workshop is restricted in students in grades 10 and 11, then only Sedrick Keh is eligible to attend the Lloyd Auckland Invitational Mathematics workshop.
This year the Philippines ranks 4th in the Fermat Contest among the 55 international teams that gave CEMC a total of more than 200,000 participants. Our country is 3rd in the Cayley Contest and 16th in the Pascal Contest among the 49 international teams.
