Young Filipino mathematicians did their country proud by winning top awards in a recently-concluded Math competition in Hong Kong.
Raphael Dylan Dalida of St. Mary's Academy in Pasay earned a gold medal in the 19th Hong Kong Primary Math World Contest (Individual Category) held in Hong Kong last July 12 to 16, 2016.
Filbert Ephraim Wu of MGC New Life Christian Academy in Taguig, on the other hand, took home a silver medal.
Bronze medalists were: Cassidy Tan of Davao Christian High School, Kristen Steffi Teh of Grace Christian College, Chiara Bernadette Tan- Gatue of St Jude Catholic School, Enzo Raphael Chan of Tarlac Bayanihan Institute, and Eugeny Cruz of Palanan Elementary School.
Meanwhile, in the Team Category, Philippine Team B composed of Dalida, Wu, Tan, and Sean Matthew Tan from Jubilee Christian Academy, was declared second runner-up.
On the other hand, a MERIT Award was given to Philippine Team A composed of Cruz, Matthew Charles Carpio of Agoo Kidie School, Noel Stephen Dequito of Xavier School Nuvali and Ethan Cedrric Jao of St. Jude Catholic School.
A total of 40 teams from Hong Kong, China, Thailand, Taiwan, Australia, Bulgaria, Indonesia, Macau, Malaysia, Mongolia, South Africa, Vietnam, and the Philippines participated in the annual math contest.
