PH WINS 1 SILVER, 2 BRONZES AT PRIMARY MATHEMATICS WORLD CONTEST

The Philippines earned one silver medal and two bronze medals in the individual contest category and one merit award in the team contest category in the 20th Po Leung Kuk Primary Mathematics World Contest held last July 16-20, 2017 in Hong Kong.

Winning the silver medal was Alvann Walter W. Paredes of Saint Jude Catholic School while John Florence A. Dizon of Calamba Elementary School- Special Science Class and Walsh Nico Adrian L. Letran, also of Saint Jude Catholic School, bagged the bronze medals. Completing Philippine Team A was Juan Rafael M. Landicho of Stonyhurst Southville International School.

Aside from the individual awards, Philippine Team A was also given a Merit Award.

Meanwhile, Philippine Team B was composed of Theodore D. Abara (La Salle Greenhills), Rovi Gabriel L. Dela Cruz (Pasig Catholic College), Armea Helena Sien G. Dimayacyac (Notre Dame of Greater Manila) and John David F. Magnaye ( Holy Rosary Academy of Las Piñas City).

Accompanying the Philippine contestants were Team Leaders Dr. Simon Chua and Renard Eric Chua as well as Deputy Team Leader Mikaela Angelina Uy.

Along with the Philippines, the following countries also participated in the said contest: Australia, Hong Kong, China, Macau, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, USA, South Africa, Bulgaria, Indonesia, Mongolia, and Vietnam.

All eight contestants are Grade 5 pupils.
