Six child-parent teams took the 3rd MTG-DepEd-SM-SHARP Family Math Quest national finals by storm and grabbed the top major titles after scoring the highest when their marks for each of the three rounds were added up, giving the competition a fantastic finish last Sunday, November 18, 2018 at the 4th Floor SM North EDSA Annex, Quezon City.
The Family Math Quest drawing a total of 26 teams, 13 for each Grade 1 and Grade 2 categories, gave the supporters and spectators a curious thrill as the participants were stumped to solve easy and tricky math problems.
This year’s biggest winner in the Grade 1 category was the mom-son tandem from the Colegio San Agustin – Biñan. They were Aires Orongan and her grade 1 son, Christopher Orogan who got a huge score enough to make them lead comfortably.
The first runner-up went to the father-son team from Cebu Eastern College, dad Mark Dennis Co and son Clarence Mark Deniel Co. The second runner-up went to dad Aaron Tan and son Albert Steven Tan of St. Jude Catholic School.
It was an unstoppable day for the line-up from Leyte Progressive High School when mom Janice Lim and son Mike Henry Lim took victory in the race ahead of the other teams, scooping all major prizes for the champion in the grade 2 category.
Putting the brakes on and grabbed the first runner-up title were Mr. Marvin Dalian Sr. and his son and namesake, Marvin Dalian Jr., grade 2 from Precious International
School of Davao. Walking up the stage as the team winning second runner-up were dad John Al Pagtakhan and son Zedliam Pagtakhan from Colegio San Agustin – Biñan.
All winners of the 3rd MTG-DepEd-SM-SHARP Family Math Quest received a trophy, medal, certificate, cash, and some gift items courtesy of SHARP calculator.
