
The Philippine team won ten medals in the individual contest and first runner-up in the team contest at the 22nd Po Leung Kuk Primary World Contest held in Hong Kong on July 15 – 19, 2019.
Two Filipino math wizards took home a silver medal each; they were Jerome Austin N. Te from Jubilee Christian Academy and Michael Gerard R. Tongson from Stonyhurst Southville International School – Malarayat.
Finishing the contest with four medals were Kody G. Briones from Emmanuel Christian School, Iris Lexi Q. Ababon from Colegio San Agustin Makati, Sophie Jill D. Co from Pace Academy, and Sean Y. Jang from Elizabeth Seton School-South.
In addition, the Philippine team A composed of Ian Te, Tongson, Briones and Gabriel T. Hong from Pace Academy was placed first runner-up in the team contest, bringing home four silver medals and a trophy. Another member of the Philippine was Charles Patrick E. Salome from St. Francis of Assisi College Bacoor.
The HK contest drew participants from Australia, Bulgaria, China, Hong Kong, Macau, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand, United States of America and Vietnam.
